Professor Cui Weicheng from Hadal Science and Technology Research Center, Shanghai Ocean University visited our college on September 12th, 2016. During his visit, Prof. Cui gave a seminar titled “On the Development Strategy of a Full Ocean Depth Manned submersible and its Current Progress”. He introduced the concept of the hadal manned submersible and explained why China should develop it. Based on the experience and lessons learned in the development of Jiaolong deep manned submersible, a new development strategy and its latest progress are introduced in his speech.
